Sassafras Sassafras returns to Lazy Susan's Comedy Den for a fourth performance in this very intimate little theatre. Featuring Jessie Gordon (voice), Lachlan Gear & Aaron Deacon (guitars), Adrian Galante (clarinet) and Pete Jeavons (doublebass), Sassafras combines toe-tapping swing, breakneck gypsy jazz, wistful french ballads and re-worked jazz standards in a vibrant and engaging mix of acoustic music, performed with the dazzling virtuosity and passion that is so intrinsic to the gypsy jazz tradition. 7pm Wed

RAVEL Pavane pour une infante défunte
RODRIGO Concierto de Aranjuez
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Scheherazade
Christopher Dragon conductor
An exhilarating concert of fantastical tales and exotic colours.
Ravel's Pavane evokes the courtly world of Renaissance Spain with as much perfumed nostalgia as Rodrigo's popular guitar concerto does. Rodrigo described his glorious concerto as capturing "the fragrance of magnolias, the singing of birds, and the gushing of fountains."
Rimsky-Korsakov's equally popular tone poem Scheherazade plunges you headfirst into the exotic world of the Tales of the Arabian Nights. Former WASO Assistant Conductor Christopher Dragon is joined by acclaimed Australian guitarist Karin Schaupp in this enchanting concert.

Tommy Emmanuel CGP* joined by guest Steve Wariner CGP
* Certified Guitar Player
Australia's world acclaimed acoustic guitar icon Tommy Emmanuel CGP returns home this September with the power and dynamism of a full band to his solo acoustic playing.
Tom's message is pure love for the guitar and the music and his delight in sharing it with the world, one audience at a time. Tommy's greatest honour was being named by his childhood idol Chet Atkins as a 'Certified Guitar Player' (CGP). The legendary US guitarist and producer Atkins gave this designation to only five players in history.
For the first time ever in Australia, two CGPs will perform on the same bill, as Tommy is joined by special guest Steve Wariner CGP, direct from Nashville. An acclaimed hit songwriter and world-renowned finger style guitarist, Steve will open all shows - and he and Tommy may even team up for some very special surprises.

Jane Austen's Drawing Room

Stewart Smith (Clementi Square Piano), Jonathan Paget (Rene Lacote guitar) and WAAPA Music students
In the fashionable Georgian age of Jane Austen's romance novels, square pianos were the mainstay of domestic music-making. The square piano, which features prominently in the Stewart Symonds Collection, was an English invention that allowed compact affordable pianos to fill the drawing rooms of thousands of homes. English music-making of this era includes a surprisingly rich repertoire of songs for piano and guitar. 3pm Sat
